Will there be Animal Sacrifices during the Millennial Reign? [Torah Teacher: Moshe]

Torah Teacher hosting this online Midrash: Moshe

There is a lot of controversy and viewpoints concerning the Millennial sacrifices to start. We would like you to join in and help us answer the following questions:

  • Is there a Biblical reference to the sacrifices?
  • If so, do we need to see it as literal or spiritual?
  • Why is it necessary to sacrifice animals again?
  • Who is responsible for the sacrifice services?
  • Are Priests presently being trained for the Millennial Reign (Messianic Age)?

  1. Scripture is overwhelming that there must be sacrifices during the Olam Haba, if we had a Temple today there would have been sacrifices.

  2. Sha'ul (Paul) sacrificed after Y'shua was gone...

    2. We see that Sha’ul in the Book of Acts takes a vow (most likely the vow of the Nazarite, which we read about in Numbers 6); not once, but twice – to show that he lives a life according to Torah. As a part of this vow, Num 6:12 says that this person must sacrifice to YHWH. If we were no longer to sacrifice due to abolishing the sacrifices, why would Sha’ul sacrifice twice to YHWH after Y’shua died on the crucifixion stake? Therefore, no sacrifices have been abolished. We do not do them right now because there is no Temple.

  3. Objections to the idea of animal sacrifices returning during the millennial kingdom is that Yeshua has come and offered a perfect sacrifice for our sin, and there is therefore no need to sacrifice animals for sin anymore.

    1. Prophecy say that when the Temple will be rebuild, sacrifices will commence. Will this be in the New Kingdom as well?

  6. So having plenty kosher animals in the new millenium could mean that you would be considered rich?

  8. Dear brother Ro Ri, help me out with this please, as it is talking about sin and burn offerings in the Messianic Age: Ezek 45: 18‘Thus said the Master HWHY, “In the first month, on the first of the month, you are to take a young bull, a perfect one, and shall cleanse the set-apart place. 19“And the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the House, on the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and on the posts of the gate of the inner courtyard. 20“And do the same on the seventh of the month for anyone who makes a mistake or is foolish. And you shall make atonement for the House. 21“In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you have the Passover, a festival of seven days, unleavened bread is eaten.22“And on that day the prince shall prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering. 23“And during the seven days of the festival he prepares a burnt offering to YHWH, seven bulls and seven rams, perfect ones, daily for seven days, and a male goat daily for a sin offering. 24“And he prepares a grain offering of one Ãphah for each bull and one Ãphah for each ram, together with a hin of oil for each Ãphah. 25“In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, at the festival, he prepares like these seven days, as the sin offering, as the burnt offering, as the grain offering, and as the oil.”

    1. Surely I want to know how it is done, for if my name is written in the book of life and by Grace I am saved as I strife to show my love to Him by doing His Torah, I would like to know how to do it in the Millennium Reign according to the prophet Ezekiel.

    2. Dear Brother Israel, I had not seen your post until now. I had not studied this matter earlier but now that I have looked into the matter let me see if I can be of any help. First we need to find another scriptural reference for an additional witness and then answer the question of time, is this happening before the Messiah returns or after? I think it is clear from cross-referencing Ezekiel 47:1 and Zec 14:8 that this is taking place after the return of the Messiah who will split the mount of Olives into a valley and will cause water to flow eastward and westward from this valley. Now we have to look at other scriptural references that confirm that sacrifices will be offered in the millennial kingdom. I can not find animal sacrifice references in the book of Revelations, can you? It would also help if we understand what manner of sacrifices are offered and which ones are lacking. It looks like there is indeed a purification sacrifice for the house and for involuntary sins but there is no Yom Kippur sacrifice being described in Ezekiel 45-46. The sacrifices being described other than the purification of the house are those that take place during the cHags of Unleavened Bread and Sukkot. Ezekiel doesn't say that the blood is sprinkled in the most set-apart place or holy of hollies also known as the mercy seat.or kapporet. This tells me that the priests are to eat from these sin offering sacrifices (Lev 6:26) to bear the iniquity of the congregation (Lev 10:27) . That there is no Yom Kippur sacrifice being described in Ezekiel is consistent with: Heb_7:27 who does not need, as those high priests, to offer up slaughter offerings day by day, first for His own sins and then for those of the people, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
Heb_9:12 entered into the Most Set-apart Place once for all, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, having obtained everlasting redemption.

  9. Sacrifices will definitely continue in the Millennial Reign when Y’shua rules from Jerusalem after He rebuilt the Temple. Ezekiel chapter 40 to 48 distinctly tells us that sacrifices during this time are going to be offered. These sacrifices will not be for the remission of sin, but for:

    • celebrations as for what Y’shua did for the Believers
    • reminders as what Y’shua did for the Believers, and
    • food for the Priests doing their Temple cycle duties.

If there were a Temple today, we would therefore have sacrificed for these reasons.

    1. Israel, you bring up a good point when you state that "if there was a Temple today....." The fact is that there is a Temple and we are that Temple and we are a living sacrifice. Yshua told the samaritan woman at the well that this hour was coming. As we can ascertain that the Temple in Ezekiel 40-48 is standing after Yshua returns by the cross-reference of Ezekiel 47:1 with Zec 14:8 we see that any effort to rebuild a temple for initiating any sacrifices before the Messiah returns is premature and likely unholy. Not sure that "WE" would therefore have sacrificed for the reasons you explained until after the return of Yshua. Perhaps it may still happen so that the anti-messiah can attempt to sit on it and demand worship.

  10. The prophets are clear that sacrifices will be done in the millenium reign. I believe that we were brought near by Messiahs blood and sacrifice for disobedience and despising His torah, now that we are back in covenant (forever) we might still make mistakes and need to make restitition for it!

    1. I personally think that the sacrifices are for those who fought against Israel as per Zech 14:16

  11. Zech. 14 tells us we will celebrate the feasts days along with the sacrifices, I believe these will both be reinstituted in the millennium (Ez.44:1-46- 46:24).The sacrifices will be a memorial, just as communion is practiced today looking back. They will not be propitiation, or effacacious (they will have no power to redeem) but are a reminder of what took place. The reason this will be instituted is because there will be many unbelievers born in the Millennial period, they will be sinners that will need to understand the sacrifice Christ did. Since his sacrifice is the final one, that cannot be repeated the types he fulfilled will be illustrative of his accomplishment. Just as the church is commanded to continue the Lord's Supper until he comes.

  12. Shalom, I am truly blessed to read what the brethren bring on this and other subjects of The Most High with these blogs here. It is admirable to see the effort’s put forth here on trying to deal straightforwardly with The Word of Truth in study to show one approved. We stand shoulder to shoulder to glean from one another in our calling in this war we are in. Also, I find it refreshing when mature brethren here can bring what is on their heart keeping it first and foremost to share with love and respect for one another while exhibiting the art of agree to disagree if necessary.

I would like to share some things that is on my heart dealing with comments made and what I perceive – in a very simple and basic way – on this very, very interesting subject on sacrifices in the context of this conversation. Please bear with me in patience because I do post scripture – instead of just references – in my responses and please forgive – I do not mean to insult the intelligence of those reading this.

I will start – with love and respect - from the springboard of a comment made on “not seeing sacrifices in Revelation. I personally see sacrifices and all other matters of Torah in revelations from the following verses….

Rev 1:1-2 (1) Revelation of יהושע Messiah, which Elohim gave Him to show His servants what has to take place with speed. And He signified it by sending His messenger to His servant Yoḥanan, (2) who bore witness to the Word of Elohim, and the witness of יהושע Messiah – to all he saw.

Rev 3:10 “Because you have guarded My Word of endurance, I also shall guard you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth.

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Elohim and possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.

Rev 14:12 Here is the endurance of the set-apart ones, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the belief of יהושע .

Rev 22:13-14 (13) “I am the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Tav’, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. (14) “Blessed are those doing His commands, so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city.

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones – and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them – and the lives of those who had been beheaded because of the witness they bore to יהושע and because of the Word of Elohim, and who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not receive his mark upon their foreheads or upon their hands. And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years

I see expressions from the above verses that incorporate Torah – and this I see incorporates all of what Torah brings, including the sacrificial Temple worship. Expressions like:

    1) bearing witness to the Word of Elohim
    2) guarded my Word of endurance
    3) guarding the commands of Elohim while giving Testimony to The Master (the marrying up of both)
    4) endurance in guarding the commands of Elohim with trust in The Master
    5) being blessed by doing His (The Master’s) commands
    6) given the authority to render judgments – from being persecuted because of giving a witness to The Master and because of the Word of Elohim

I see the complete Torah being presented in Revelation….

    Continued….

  13. I also see this from what The Master said of Himself:

Heb 10:7 Then I said, ‘Lo, I in the volume of the scroll, it has been written concerning Me – to do Your desire, O Elohim.

Further expanding on what the desire is, this can be seen from the part of Psalms The Master claimed of Himself....

Psa 40:7 (7) Then I said, Lo, I come in the volume of the scroll, it is prescribed for me. (8) I have delighted to do Your pleasure, O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my heart”. (9) I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness, in the great assembly; Lo, I do not restrain my lips, O יהוה, You know. (10) I did not conceal Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your trustworthiness and Your deliverance; I did not hide Your kindness and Your truth From the great assembly.

"Your Torah is within my heart"

So, I see when the Master sits as King of Kings on the throne in the millennium, all of Torah will be incorporated. The book of Hebrews was also referenced to in this blog conversation, so I would like to share what was brought to my attention by a teacher on the subject of sacrifices and Hebrews and how to reconcile both. He brought, the key to Hebrews is found in Heb 2:5….

Heb 2:5 For it was not to angels that Elohim subjected the olam haba — which is what we are talking about.

This one verse, and accepting the concept that the complete book of Hebrews is dealing with the 'olam haba and not the 'olam hazeh, this has brought a lot of scriptural harmony to me. This brings a lot of clarity for me when the Master says this..

Mat 5:17-18 (17) Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done (or fulfilled).

I also heard and agree with this on the concept of “all will be fulfilled”, The Most High’s plan for all things is a three step process…

    1) Creation – been done
    2) Redemption – been done
    3) Restoration – has yet to be done

The Garden with the Tree of Life is not yet re-occupied – as brought by Kefa…

2Pe 3:13 but we, following along with his promise, wait for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness will be at home.

Until that wait is over, all things have yet to be fulfilled and thus, not one jot or tittle of Torah is done away with.

This subject, on reconciling complete Temple worship in the ‘olam hazen and The Master sitting on His ‘olam hazen throne while they are being conducted - trying to understanding what it will be like in the ‘olam haba with the Throne of The Most High along with the mystery of The Levitial priesthood being a priesthood forever before Elohim, well quite frankly, I will admit I do not understand it all. I see this as a mystery still. A ton of Sod and Remez with this, but having a foundation from P’shat and then moving on to D’rash, I hope to get more revelations on this, and glimpses into the Sod part of The Master. This subject does warrant investigation. I am so thankful to have come across these blogs, being blessed with the wisdom I see here by the brethren on their efforts to study this and other matters of The Most High. Also, this subject is worthy of good study, at least on my part, because it is a subject used by the enemy to bring severe deception to the brethren – deception running rampant in the Church. For myself, if I keep a balance on facts and mysteries, when I am confronted by the enemy (through those he is deceiving), I can “put knots” on the enemy’s head and see (as I have seen) the enemy run away, flee, thus coming under subjection to The Master, Truth, The Word of The Most High!

There is yet more for me to study – along with a ton of other subject matters of scripture – on this subject, especially from the prophets in the Tanakh. Thank you for your time in reading my comments and I look forward to comments of confirmation or objections – which I may learn from.

Shalom and may The Master richly bless you in your journey
